Why won't my oncologist investigate my pain complaints as a Black patient?

Why is it as an African-American? When I keep telling my Oncologist office about my body pain level being a level 8, or other issues like numbness. They just keeping saying "ok" and write it in my chart. But there's no movement to investigate.

Healthcare disparities are a real concern, and persistent pain deserves proper attention and investigation regardless of background. Consider advocating for yourself by asking specific questions about next steps, requesting a second opinion, or seeking support from patient advocacy services at your treatment center to ensure your concerns receive the thorough evaluation they warrant.

My sister my sister: I feel your pain. This happens all the time with us. It just happened to me. After my Surgery to remove two large tumors from. My liver I was given 5mg of oxycodon to take 1 every four hours. But I only got 20 pills. For a Surgery that lasted 5 hours.. Of course I called the Doctor and asked why was I given such a low dosage. and so few pills. after a 5 hour major Surgery. I didn't actually get an answer but my dosage and my milligrams was increased to 10mg plus the amount was increased to 40 pills. Still not enough. When the recovery is estimated to last 3 to six months. The way we are treated is CRIMINAL!! Speak up for yourself. Racism is very prevalent in health care. It's why America doesn't have universal Healthcare. Because the powers that be don't want Black Americans to have free Healthcare. If your health care team doesn't give you the answers you're looking for Go Some where else. THIS IS YOUR LIFE. YOU DESERVE DIGNITY &RESPECT. Make them give it to you. Much ❤️

I agree Elizabeth 100 percent. You need someone that looks in your eyes and ears to listen and has a heart filled with genuine concern for you. This Oncologist failed the test talk to your primary doctor tell them what's going on and ask her to help with you finding a new Oncologist.
