2 days agoI recently had a lumpectomy for stage 0 breast cancer and my doctor is recommending whole breast radiation therapy as the next step. They explained that this uses targeted x-rays to help eliminate any remaining cancer cells that surgery might have missed and reduce the chance of cancer returning in the same area. I'm trying to learn more about what this experience is like from people who have been through it. If you've had whole breast radiation after breast-conserving surgery, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. • What was the day-to-day routine like during your radiation treatments? • What helped you manage any side effects or prepare for the process?

a day agoMany people find that whole breast radiation treatments become part of a manageable daily routine, typically lasting just a few minutes each day over several weeks. The treatment team usually provides detailed guidance on skin care and what to expect, and connecting with others who've walked this path can offer valuable practical tips and emotional support. This community is a wonderful place to hear from others who understand exactly what this journey involves.

19 hours agoI also had stage 0, lumpectomy and radiation. I was prescribed a steroid cream to use after treatments. I experienced some skin redness and darkening at the end of treatment. The techs gave me miaderm with lidocaine. The irritation went away after a week or two. The sessions were short and I felt nothing during. I am now a year and a half post. I have some breast tenderness but mild. Ive had some muscle soreness in the area too. Overall, has not been a bad experience.
