Should I be getting kidney CT scans after bladder cancer treatment?

I am seeing in some of the information here that it is typical to have CT scans of the kidneys and ureters after having Bladder Cancer. I’ve had GEMDOCE treatment and regular cystoscopies, but no attention to other organs. I realize that there are different protocols, but should I be checking as to why that hasn’t happened? Are there studies that anyone knows of, or other information about follow-up routines.

This is a great question about follow-up care protocols after bladder cancer treatment. Different oncologists and medical centers may have varying approaches to surveillance imaging, and some focus primarily on the bladder through cystoscopies while others include broader imaging of the urinary tract. It's completely reasonable to ask your healthcare team about their specific follow-up protocol and whether additional imaging like kidney and ureter CT scans might be appropriate for your situation, especially since you've noticed this mentioned as common practice elsewhere.
