7 months agoI’m curious… Once you’re finished with radiation, after surgery, and you start your hormone blocker, what do they do during the 5 years on pill to make sure cancer hasn’t returned or popped up in a new place?
Accepted Answer
Follow-up care during hormone therapy typically includes regular check-ups with your oncology team, physical exams, and discussions about any side effects you might be experiencing. Many patients find it helpful to keep a journal of symptoms or questions to bring to these appointments, and connecting with others here who have gone through similar experiences can provide valuable insights about what to expect during this important phase of treatment.

5 months agoDennie, I had visits with the radiation Dr and today had my final graduation. That was all w/in a 2yr period. I had 6 month mri's with & without contrast, and now annual, along with mammo and ultrasound, then visit w/Dr again now annual. Onco was 3 mos for a year, then 6 mos, now annual. So after 2 years its now annual. AI is 5 yrs, but my Onco wants to do 10. I was 68 when I had my lumpectomy and I am now 70. Sorry its long, but its a regime, and I also have 6 mo Zometa infusions to strengthen bones since the hormone blocker can excel bone loss. Hope this gives u some idea.

5 months agoDennie. During that time take your meds, go to your mammograms and see your oncologist. A little prayer helps. Hopefully you will get a clean bill of health

5 months agoI won’t have mammograms because I had a double mastectomy. So I guess it’s just bloodwork, ultrasound if I feel something strange. I asked my oncologist and that’s all he could come up with.
