8 months agoMy mastectomy is on Thursday the 17th. What do I need to take to the hospital.? I was told to just bring a small bag.

For a hospital stay, consider comfortable, front-opening clothing like button-up shirts or zip-up hoodies, slip-on shoes, essential toiletries, phone charger, and any medications you take regularly. Many find it helpful to pack items that open in the front since arm movement may be limited initially, and bringing a small pillow for the car ride home can provide extra comfort.

6 months agoHi Betsy, I made sure to bring a compression bra, a button-down shirt that has pockets for the drains, sweatpants, easy slip-on shoes, and a seatbelt pillow. I bought a mastectomy pillow bundle off of Amazon, which includes a mastectomy pillow, a bag to put your drains while in the shower, a seatbelt pillow, and some hot/cold packs. I didn't end up using the compression bra though because I was wrapped in the bandages. I wish you a speedy recovery!

6 months agoThank you, I have a lot of those things already, my daughter thought of all that. I appreciate it very much Looking forward to our visit. Our building is the one in the back, look for the Versailles and 222 under that and you have the right building. Just buzz the buzzer. See you tomorrow.💕

6 months agoFor sure take a small pillow to hold against your chest in car and just protection. Get a shirt that snaps or Velcro on side so you can open it up by side and not over your head. I also had a fanny pack for the drain bags. These were the most important things I had at first.

6 months ago@Betsy E, there are great items on Amazon. No rinse bath sponges until you can shower, dry /wet shampoo caps were wonderful too. All clothing button up front, zip up, or open up on sides. Slip-on shoes and yoga pants to hospital. You won’t wear a bra for awhile due to wounds.
