24 days agoAny advice for a bone biopsy? I had a pet scan this past week and it showed 6 very small suspicious spots on my bones. So the next step is a bone biopsy. After everything I have been through (lumpectomy, followed by a dmx, radiation , tamoxifen), I don’t know why this has me so nervous. Of course I know that it could show metastasis so I am terrified of that, but also of the procedure. I think I will be sedated? But how long after will I be sore? And then I will also be just waiting again for results, which we all know can be the worst part. Also has anyone been through a bone biopsy that showed no spread of cancer? I feel almost like it is a foregone conclusion since I can’t imagine what else it could be.

24 days agoBone biopsies are often performed with sedation to keep you comfortable, and while some soreness at the biopsy site is normal for a few days afterward, many people find the recovery more manageable than expected. There are definitely cases where suspicious spots on scans turn out to be benign conditions like arthritis, old injuries, or other non-cancerous changes, so try to hold onto hope while you wait for results. The anxiety around waiting for results is completely understandable, and this community is here to support you through this challenging time.

2 days agoI just had my 2nd one done. It’s twilight sedation so you don’t feel anything. However, mine was in my left hip on the back side.. the one I just had was in the same hip on the front. Both were CT guided and you just run in and out of the machine so the doctor knows where to position the needle first one I actually dozed off second one when I came out of the CT I could actually see the doctor putting the needle in my hip not pleasant they do give you lidocaine to numb the area and you just feel I guess like pressure more so than pain or I did. I have stage four metastatic breast cancer that has spread to my bones and my oncologist. Wanted to get a definitive on the HER2 because apparently there wasn’t enough of the sample during the first one relatively simple have to have somebody drive you no side effects other than you might be a little sore but other than that, mine healed just fine. I wish you the best!
