Has Anyone Else Experienced Fluid Buildup After a Lumpectomy?

I had a lumpectomy for DCIS grade 0 on May 28. I was healing well until about the 7th when I had a buildup of fluid in my breast. The doctor drained the excess fluid but this evening I noticed that I am retaining fluid again. Anyone else had that experience and what was the outcome.

Fluid buildup after lumpectomy is something that other community members have experienced, and it's completely understandable to feel concerned when it happens again after being drained. This type of post-surgical fluid collection can occur as part of the healing process, though each person's recovery journey is unique. Reaching out to your medical team about the recurring fluid is always the right step, and sharing your experience here may help connect you with others who have navigated similar situations during their recovery.

Did they put drains in for the fluid to drain while healing?

I needed to have fluid drained twice. After that, all was well.

I'm having built up fluid also. They sent me to rehabilitation still doesn't work. My left breast is swollen all the time. One large breast and one small

Is it a seroma? I had that near my lump site and near my lymph node biopsy site. I wasn’t offered any drainage, just told to put warm compresses on them as often as possible and refrain from movement that caused rubbing near the area.
