6 months agoHow long after a mastectomy do they have u do radiation and or cemo
Accepted Answer
The timing for radiation or chemotherapy after mastectomy typically depends on several factors including the specific type of cancer, stage, and individual healing process. Most oncologists recommend starting adjuvant treatments within 6-8 weeks after surgery to allow proper healing while ensuring the best outcomes. It's completely natural to have questions about treatment timing, and discussing these concerns with the oncology team can help provide a clearer timeline based on the specific situation.

6 months agoI think it depends on healing and additional test needs. I'm 2 1/2 months out and they had me do a sentinel node biopsy 2 weeks ago. I'm almost healed from that and going to the oncologist on Monday to talk next steps

6 months agoI waited 3 months after dbl mastectomy to start radiation, they want your incisions healed. Radiation burns your skin. And I developed a bad rash on the burn called “radiation dermatitis “. Takes forever to heal.

5 months agoThey want your incisions to heal. I had double mastectomy on August 15th. Met with medical oncologist 3 weeks later and she told me that I looked well enough to start chemo.
