I have diagnosed with ILC stage two a no lymph node involvement her to positive and negative ER PR positive started taxol and herceptin yesterday was unpleasantly surprised to find out that it was her 2 positive as well. My first impression of what the oncologist told me was her two negative but further testing revealed a different result having Port placed Friday, 16 October was frightening to me because that meant I really do have cancer and I really am getting chemotherapy being a nurse for 50 years cancer chemotherapy. Those words scared me and I’m trying very hard to not be so scared to try to be stronger and to take good care of myself and to be positive. That is my biggest that is my biggest job that’s my job I trust my oncologist and I trust Dana Farber cancer Institute for the medical part for the mind part that’s up to me. I know it. It’s interesting hearing about all the different cancer diagnosis in the meds and the treatments in the response. I’m interested and happy to be in this group.

Staying positive after an invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) diagnosis and the start of chemo doesn't mean pushing away fear. Many people find that making room for hard feelings, while leaning on small daily routines, rest, and supportive people, helps them feel steadier during breast cancer treatment. The care team can also point to emotional support and coping resources, and this community is a good place to swap tips on what brings comfort during chemo. Sharing what helps day to day may encourage others who are just starting treatment too.
