9 months agoI got a bilateral simple mastectomy with sentinel node resection just last month. They only took one node because all my nodes filled with ink. They said they found metastatic cells but are not diagnosing me metastatic because I don't have evidence of any legions or distant tumors. So that's a good thing right? I don't quite understand it. I've got more chemo and then radiation coming. I'm most concerned about the radiation. What do you wish you knew before hand? What can I do to mitigate the damage of it?
Accepted Answer
Radiation therapy can feel overwhelming, especially after already going through surgery and with more chemo ahead. Many community members find it helpful to focus on skin care preparation - gentle moisturizers, loose-fitting clothing, and staying hydrated can make a difference during treatment. The medical team should provide specific guidance about what to expect and how to care for the treatment area, so don't hesitate to ask them all your questions about managing side effects and what's normal during the process.

6 months agoI would have liked to know from my Oncologist how much radiation was given to me? Perhaps they could of used less radiation and still were able to kill the cancer.

6 months agoI found chemo more difficult than radiation. Hardest part of radiation was getting there every day.

6 months agoMy body knew that Chemo is evil and rejected it. That is why I had the worst reaction of nausea, diarrhea, and hair loss.

6 months agoI was doing the strong chemo and it got me very sick. So the dr lower the dose to a 12 weeks . Now I do chemo once a week for 6 weeks because I did regular chemo for 3 months 1xamonth I did for 3 months that why he's doing the new chemo for 6 weeks instead of 12 weeks. I like it better the other way once a month but my body could not take it. I was having bad diarrhea and my blood was very bad. So it is what it is now!! For 6 weeks I have to do it. " I could do this, I'm strong and willing to fight!!!@ š„°š„°š„°ššš

6 months agoIf I had less Radiation I would be able to have reconstructive surgery. Unfortunately my tissue was in poor shape. I did originally want reconstructive surgery and when I learned that it would not be possible I felt sad
