What to expect from radiation therapy after lumpectomy?

I recently had a lumpectomy for Stage I, hormone receptor-positive breast cancer and I'm learning about radiation therapy as my next step. My doctor explained that radiation is standard after breast-conserving surgery to help destroy any remaining cancer cells in the breast area and reduce the risk of cancer returning in that location. I'd love to connect with others who've been through a similar treatment path and hear about your experiences. • What was radiation therapy like for you after lumpectomy? • What do you wish you had known going into radiation treatment?

Radiation therapy after lumpectomy is a common and important part of treatment for many patients with breast cancer, and connecting with others who have walked this path can provide valuable insights and reassurance. Many community members have shared that understanding what to expect day-to-day during treatment, including potential side effects and self-care strategies, helped them feel more prepared and confident going into radiation therapy.
