Can lumpectomy margins affect chemo for stage 1 breast cancer?

Hi, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma stage 1 and 1.5 cm in August 2026. On September 10th I had lumpectomy surgery. It's take 7-10 days to get pathology report. I'm getting nervous, scared, and anxious. I was told by my breast surgeon I will have radiation. I'm hoping no chemo. I'm not sure of margin. Anyone gone through the same thing? I don't want to do radiation the burn your skin, and cancer can come back. Don't want to do hormones therapy (menopause) mess up the hormones and cause nauseous.

Lumpectomy margins can influence treatment decisions, as clear margins are important for reducing the risk of recurrence. Waiting for pathology results is incredibly stressful, and these feelings are completely normal during this uncertain time. Many community members have walked this path and understand the concerns about potential side effects from various treatments - connecting with others who have similar experiences can provide valuable perspective and support during this waiting period.
