3 months agoI've had reconstruction surgery in July but I didn't get a nipple and my breasts were two different sizes. Went back on November 13th to have fat grafting to enlarge my breast but the tissue from the previous surgery had died, so they removed that and added the new tissue. I am still at two different sizes, but I have a nipple. I don't know what to do. At this point I am willing to live with different sized breasts. Any suggestions?

3 months agoDealing with uneven breast sizes after reconstruction can be emotionally and physically challenging, and it's completely understandable to feel frustrated after multiple procedures. Many people in the breast cancer community have found ways to feel confident and comfortable with asymmetry, whether through specialized bras, prosthetics, or simply embracing their body as it is now. Have others here found helpful strategies for managing size differences, whether through clothing choices, support garments, or mindset shifts that brought them peace with their reconstruction results?

3 months agoOh my, that is exactly what happened to me. Thankfully I listened to my doctor who said give it time and my breast would start to "droop" a little. She was right. At the time of my reconstruction I had her take me down two breast sizes which thrilled me beyond belief. After two years they look basically the same, very little difference. Also, I had looked into getting a nipple tattooed on but the thought of the needle and more pain I changed my mind. Now I don't miss the nipple. Please note, I'm 74 (75 next month) so that might be a consideration. Maybe talk to your doctor about your concerns and give it time. I will keep you in my prayers 💕

2 months agoI had the same issue with my reconstructive work 2017. It was tough but after 4 years and several surgeries. Mine are finally pretty even. I know it is exhausting especially if your on a hormone blocker to donate so much of your time and energy to breast reconstructive. I am glad I had it done. It’s a long journey and I think what ever makes people happy, and feel good about themselves- that’s what they should do. 💕

2 months agoI am accepting the difference in size and have found bras that are padded so the size difference isn't as obvious. Thank you everyone 💓

2 months agoI’m reading these notes about reconstruction surgery. About 20 yrs ago I had a breast reduction and a tummy duc. It took almost 51/2 hrs just to do the breasts. So when I ended up with breast cancer I had both of them removed and I too opted out of reconstruction. It’s been 13 yrs since the original cancer and being breast-less that it’s great. But this group of woman are so understanding and appreciative to be able to have someone to talk and vent to and knows exactly how u feel. Anyway I wish everyone a Happy,Healthy and safe New Year! My name is Mary and write me anytime!
