4 months agoHi. I have her2negative breast cancer. Just had a follow up appointment from my surgery. Two of the three lymph nodes they took were cancer. They also said I still have cancer in the breast area and need ANOTHER surgery.
Accepted Answer
Cancer spreading to lymph nodes does indicate a more advanced stage that requires comprehensive treatment, but many people with similar diagnoses go on to have successful outcomes with the right care plan. Having additional surgery recommended shows that the medical team is being thorough in addressing all areas of concern, which is an important part of treatment. This community has many members who have navigated similar situations and can offer valuable support and insights during this challenging time.

4 months agoI had a double mastectomy in August 4 lymph nodes removed, 1st was metastatic, 2nd was micrometastatic, 3rd and 4th clean. Was given chemo and radiation because I told them I wanted to be aggressive. I was assured after the first surgery that I was still 'curable'. My PET scan prior to starting chemo showed no signs of cancer. Hope this info helps. It's hard to wrap your head around everything. Trying hard myself not to stress about thinking if it will ever come back.

3 months agoDoes having a mastectomy mean that the cancer won’t come back , if lymph nodes were clean, early, small.

3 months agoSusan A, they told me chance of recurrence with double mastectomy was 1-2%. Will be lower now due to chemo and radiation plus the drugs that I am taking.
