How to find motivation and positivity after cancer remission?

I was diagnosed in November just before Thanksgiving and am in complete remission.... I just can't find a way back to the positive side. I am meditating taking prescription drugs but can't get the motivation to quit feeling sorry for myself.

Finding motivation after achieving remission can feel surprisingly challenging, and these feelings are completely valid in the cancer journey. Many people in this community have shared similar experiences about the emotional adjustment period that can follow treatment, and connecting with others who understand this unique situation often helps in gradually rebuilding that sense of hope and purpose.

I wish I was in your shoes today. I am just starting this journey and I am completely overwhelmed but find great peace in my faith. Start by finding joy and gratitude in one small thing today and your mind will begin to reset. You got this!! 🌻

Same. It’s been a year, but the diagnosis and treatment and adjustment to the medications completely exploded my life and lifestyle. I no longer feel like me. My body doesn’t feel like it’s mine anymore. Everyone’s response is “But it’s gone now right!” Or “I’m so glad you caught it early!” And I just want to respond to them with anger and screams about how much it’s fucked up my life or how catching it early really doesn’t feel great when you’ve also caught it young and know it will probably come back. But instead I give a grimacing smile and say “lucky me.” Your feelings are valid. And I think we’re all allowed to wallow and grieve and be angry at cancer even after it’s “gone”. Enjoy the good days when you can, and allow yourself a pity party or a good cry on the bad days. My hope is that time will lessen the pain.
