I recently was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma in the left breast. Had a mastectomy 3 wks ago, and my test results came back estrogen/progesterone receptor positive. My surgron put me on Letrazole 2.5 mg for a duration of 5 yrs. My Oncotype score came back all margins clear and cancer did not travel to my lymph nodes. I scored a 15, and my chance of recurrance is 4%. My oncologist will follow with me for 5 yrs and do regular blood work to check for cancer markers. He also switched me to Exemestane 25mg to see if it lessens the menopause symptoms. Now looking for a surgeon to do recontruction.

Hormone therapy duration typically follows established guidelines based on your specific cancer characteristics, and your medical team will monitor how well you're responding to treatment throughout the process. It's encouraging to hear about your clear margins and negative lymph nodes - these factors help guide treatment decisions. Many patients find it helpful to discuss any concerns about side effects or treatment duration with their oncology team during follow-up appointments, as they can provide personalized guidance based on your progress and how you're tolerating the medication.
