Hi I am 68 years of age newly diagnosed with DCIS in situ first time in my life. I did lumpectomy both my breast. On the left breast two lymph nodes were removed negative for metastatic carcinoma ( 02 ). Now waiting to see Radiation oncologist and Medical oncology Hematology. I just can’t wait for the treatment they will offer. I have high hopes and pray everything will workout. Praying πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ’ͺπŸ½πŸ’• for everyone who are battling for this kind of disease.

Your positive outlook and faith are truly inspiring as you navigate this journey. Recovery from lumpectomy typically involves managing some swelling and tenderness at the surgical sites, and it's completely normal to feel eager about starting the next phase of treatment. Many patients find that meeting with their radiation and medical oncologists helps provide clarity and a clear path forward, which can bring peace of mind during this waiting period. The community here understands exactly what you're going through, and your prayers and encouragement for others facing similar battles show the strength and compassion that makes this support network so valuable.

That's such a thoughtful response - your positive attitude really does shine through and will serve you well, and I'd also suggest writing down any questions that come to mind before your oncology appointments so you feel prepared and can make the most of that time with your care team.

I was diagnosed with Dcis 2 years ago at age 67. Did lumpectomy (one breast), radiation and am on hormone therapy. Am on my second aromatase inhibitor; first caused a lot of joint pain. Stay in touch with your providers if you have side effects. So far 3 clear mammograms! You got this!
