2 months agoHas anyone chosen a lumpectomy over a mastectomy for a stage one, grade 3, hr+recurrent breast cancer?
Community Member
2 months agoThis is such an important decision that many face when dealing with recurrent breast cancer. Treatment options can vary greatly depending on individual circumstances like tumor location, previous treatments, and overall health factors. Many community members have shared their experiences with both surgical approaches, and it's often helpful to connect with others who've faced similar choices. Consider discussing the benefits and risks of each option thoroughly with your oncology team, as they can provide personalized guidance based on your specific situation.

2 months agoMy first encounter with cancer resulted in a lumpectomy and radiation treatment along with aromatase inhibitor. Second time (other breast) had bilateral mastectomy and a different aromatase inhibitor. Third time Metz to liver and spine treatment chemotherapy

2 months agoYes, I had a lumpectomy instead of a mastectomy. Margins were clear. No lymph nodes were involved. I followed up with chemotherapy and radiation. I am currently receiving immunotherapy until May.

2 months agoAnd it was for a recurrence? I was told that mastectomy was recommended for a recurrence but I’ve been getting other opinions.

25 days agoI had a lumpectomy. I did have lymph nodes removed, though, too. But after radiation treatment, I am considered "cancer free" or really in remission.
