Hello. My name is Laurie and was just diagnosed with Stage 3B cervical cancer. I am in the process of staring my treatments. I have not been emotional in regards to my dx just confused and shock. I am staying positve because that is how I have always lived.

Feeling shocked and confused after receiving a cancer diagnosis is completely natural - these emotions often take time to process as your mind adjusts to this new information. Many people in this community have found that maintaining a positive outlook while allowing themselves to feel whatever emotions come up can be a helpful approach during treatment. Consider connecting with others here who understand what you're going through, as their experiences and support can provide valuable insights during this journey.

Laurie, I was diagnosed with the same on Nov 6, 2021 (my birthday by the way) I, too stayed positive. I went through very aggressive radiation, brachytherapy and chemo over the next 6 months. It was not easy, but at the end I went into remission The best thing, from my perspective, that you can do for yourself is Do Not be afraid to ask questions and stay on top of your appointments. The biggest issues I faced (besides getting through the actual treatment itself) were hitting walls with insurance that delayed treatment I desperately needed. I had to call insurance, doctors offices, etc more times than I care to remember but it kept the process going. I remember thinking the doctors would handle it but they have so many other patients that you really need to be an advocate for yourself If the doctors give you a timeline and it gets delayed, be a nuisance. Call anyone and everyone. Nurse coordinators will be your best friends and a huge help in being a liaison between insurance companies, doctors and yourself. Good luck and God bless you on your journey.

I was also just diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer on December 3rd. I'm starting chemo and radiation on Christmas Eve. I'm also trying to stay positive but this has punched me in the gut so hard and I can't seem to get my breath back.
