My tumor has shrunk I don’t understand why I need surgery and then radiation I feel I should get radiation and be done with it. I feel like if I’m being cut on the cancer is gonna spread I’ve got Tnbc stage lll cause my lymph nodes under my arm are a little cancerous I realize they need to be removed by surgery. My predicament is if the tumor has shrunk why should I go through the whole protocol of chemo but my daughter whose a nurse practitioner says it’s best to because it adds to longevity but the cancer can still come back. Monday will be my fifth round of chemo. Please explain so I can get a better understanding.

How do I manage severe hot flashes and anxiety on Arimidex?

I'm currently taking Arimidex (anastrozole) for breast cancer and dealing with multiple side effects. I'm having very severe hot flashes, joint and bone pain, fatigue, and severe anxiety with emotional distress. My doctor explained that these symptoms are commonly linked to this medication since it works by lowering estrogen levels. I plan to contact my oncology team to discuss these issues, but I'd love to hear from others who've been through similar experiences. • What helped you manage severe hot flashes and anxiety while on anastrozole? • What tips do you wish you'd known when dealing with these side effects?

Breast cancer is one of those topics that reminds me how important early detection and support are. I think it's something we should talk about more openly. What's your perspective on it?

Are you in the KARISMA Endoxifen study for breast cancer?

Have read a fair amount on the KARISMA study which is for the Endoxifen trials. Sounds very interesting and would like to know if anyone is involved with the KARISMA Study. Endoxifen is given at a very low dose with this study and has minimal side effects and reduces breast density for folks who have dense breasts. I am 2 years post IDC, Stage 1, Grade 2, ER+, PR+, HER2- negative. Post lumpectomy, radiation and currently on 5 years of Tamoxifen.

What supportive care options help most during breast cancer treatment?

I have metastatic hormone-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer and I'm currently on Kisqali (ribociclib) with hormone therapy. I've been learning about supportive care options that focus on managing symptoms and improving quality of life alongside my treatments. It sounds like these services can help with comfort and daily living throughout the treatment journey. I'd love to hear from others with similar diagnoses about your experiences with supportive care. • What types of supportive care have been most helpful for you during treatment? • What do you wish you had known earlier about supportive care options available to you?
