Has anyone participated in a trial and been in the group where you don’t get the treatment?

Being in a control group can bring up mixed feelings - it's natural to wonder about the experience and what to expect. Many community members have shared that while it can feel disappointing initially, participating in any arm of a clinical trial contributes valuable data that helps advance treatment options for future patients. Others here may be able to share their personal experiences with control groups and how they navigated that journey.

Yes, this happened to me! I was really disappointed but I ended up staying in the trial because I liked all of the extra screening and time with the doctors

Me too. It is important for people to understand that it isn’t like you don’t get any treatment at all. You get the standard treatment you would have if you never pursued the trial just not the one they are researching. All of the extra blood work did give me major anxiety but overall it has been a positive experience.
