Hello, I was diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Her2+ ER+PR-. I heard this is rare. Is there any one out there other than me who may have the same cancer? Please share. Thank you, Janice Cowen

While this specific combination of markers may feel uncommon, there are others in the breast cancer community who share similar diagnoses and understand the unique challenges that come with it. This is exactly the kind of connection that makes support communities so valuable - finding others who truly understand the path being navigated. Many people in this community have experience with HER2+ cancers and the various treatment approaches that go along with them, and sharing experiences can provide both practical insights and emotional support.

I have the same type of cancer as you, stage 1a grade 3, diagnosed in 2021. The tumor was very small, 4 mm with no lymph node involvement. I had a lumpectomy, 12 weeks of Taxol and Herceptin, then Herceptin alone for the remainder of the year, 20 radiation treatments, and on Exemestane for 5 years. I’m doing well, NED now. I hope everything goes well with your treatment.

I have the same combination but Stage II B- had 6 rounds of Taxotere, Carboplatin, Herceptin and Perjeta. Tumor reduced by 75% and lymph node undetectable- but was marked with an RFID tag. Had lumpectomy 3 wks ago- no cancer detected in breast or involved lymph node or 3 more checked. Start back on Herceptin/Perjeta this week to finish out a year’s worth. 25 radiation treatments to start In May. Hopefully they can keep yours in check with no more spread.

I have the same type of cancer. HER2+ ER+ PR-. But my tumor which they thought was originally 10 mm was actually 90 mm. Think softball size. I’m 4 weeks out from double mastectomy with expanders. My Oncologist wants me to take Taxotere, Carboplatin, Herceptin, and Perjeta. I’ll get a 2nd opinion. But that sounds like the standard of care for this cancer type. Anyone gone through this treatment plan?

Bonnie, can you please share your opinion and side effects of the TCHP treatments you’ve been on?
