6 months agoHi, it's Heather. I finally had my surgery done on Monday. Of course it was terrible. It was a six hour surgery. She took my diseased colon out along with surrounding lymph nodes. She found a rubbery substance all over my organs. She took all that out and sent to pathology. Could be something. Could be scar tissue maybe. I feel like she did a great job considering. Next week I will see her, my PCP, and my oncologist. I will soon know the complexity of my case and what treatments are available. Please send up a prayer for me!!! ❤️

6 months agoRecovery time after colon surgery varies for each person, but it typically takes several weeks to a few months to fully heal, with many people starting to feel stronger after the first few weeks. The path ahead with upcoming appointments sounds well-coordinated, and this community understands the mix of relief and uncertainty that comes with this stage - wishing for positive results from pathology and strength for whatever comes next.

6 months agoHope you are doing well. Im 3 weeks past surgery. Pathology found 2 of 52 nodes had cancer. The diagnosis is Stage IIIA and will start chemo + immunotherapy soon. Luckily caught early with no symptoms and im healthy, but oncology team is going to take a hammer to it. Expectations is to beat it. Keep positive.

6 months agoThank you guys for the well wishes! I hope your journey is going well. I had 2 feet of colon, 11 lymph nodes and lots of diseased tissue removed around 2 weeks ago. It was effective! I am in stage 1. I will have to monitor it very close with my docs. Last week I was cut back open due to a large infection. So, you fix one thing and hurt another. When does this cycle end?!?!? Rochelle, I would love to hear how you are doing!! Kenneth, that is wonderful news! Everyone should get regular checks so the cancer doesn't get so far. I will never ignore any symptoms again. But we have all survived! We are warriors!!! With God, all things are possible. I look forward to hearing from you guys. I will touch base in with all after I see the doc Thursday!

a day agoI am new here I am 6 weeks after surgery. I had stage 2A cancer. They removed about 2 feet of colon. And 10 lymph nodes. Nothing in my other organs and nothing in the lymph nodes. They got everything out of the colon. I was really lucky. I also will have to monitor it very closely with oncology doctors and have regular tests. I feel great and looking forward to going back to work. Looking forward to how everyone is doing. God bless. Stay strong.
