21 days agoMy husband has a illostomy. The doctor said that they can reverse it when treatment is done. Now he said that it will probably be permanent. However when they did it it was not sealed and dumping poo in his stomach and causing abscess. Need to know is a second opinion and option at this point. We don't want him to continue to get these abscess. What do I do!

21 days agoSeeking a second opinion is absolutely a reasonable option, especially when complications have occurred and the original treatment plan has changed. Many patients find value in consulting with another colorectal surgeon or gastroenterologist who specializes in ostomy reversals to better understand all available options and get clarity on the best path forward. It's important to advocate for the best possible care and outcomes, and getting additional expert perspectives can help provide peace of mind and ensure all possibilities are being considered.
