4 months agoAm I correct, my next step after diagnosis should be a 2nd opinion???
Accepted Answer
Getting a second opinion is a common and often valuable step that many people consider after receiving a diagnosis. It can provide additional perspective on treatment options and help confirm the initial findings. The timing and decision to seek another opinion depends on various personal factors and the complexity of the situation. Many healthcare providers understand and support patients who choose to explore this option. What aspects of getting a second opinion are you most curious about - perhaps others in the community can share their experiences with this process?

4 months agoGloria I Our local Dr. in my town doesn't really have what you might call a good reputation. He was my urologist. And also the same Dr. as a good friend of mine. My friend warned me about him and suggested I get a second opinion which I did. That's when I found City of Hope. They saved my life. Had I not seeked them out, I wouldn't have made it with the original Dr's plan.

4 months agoThat was actually when I had prostate cancer. His treatments were not working. And by the time I made it to City of Hope, I had a total prostatectomy.

4 months agoBut Gloria. You really have to have faith and trust in your care team. To know that they have your life in their qualified hands. Having been with my specialists since 2017, we have built a strong bond and I know they will go to extremes to get me through this disease.

4 months agoYes. I went through radiation treatments 25. M-F for 5 weeks. 6 chemo every three weeks. Tumor shrunk and at the moment no surgery planned unless it returns. Studies show it has a 13 percent chance of returning in the next 2 years. I am banking on the 87 percent side of things. Do ask questions on different procedure options. I elected the radiation treatments first. Can ask me other questions if you like. Ken
