2 months agoHi Tom, I have been taking capecitabine for a while, 2000 mg per day for 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. I also get biweekly immunotherapy infusions of cetuximab. So far the capecitabine is working well for me, my oncologist is pleased with the results, it may work well for you! Side affects vary from person to person but you get side affects from any cancer treatment. Hope this helps .

2 months agoThis is an important question about treatment options that many people in similar situations wonder about. Treatment decisions depend on many individual factors that only the medical team can fully evaluate, including overall health, previous treatments, and specific tumor characteristics. It would be helpful to discuss concerns about treatment intensity directly with the oncologist, as they can explain the reasoning behind the treatment plan and whether other options might be appropriate. Others in the community may have insights to share about their experiences with different treatment approaches.

a month agozo started the Capecitabine, two weeks on, one week off, two caplets in AM one in PM. It's a 50% dose bcuz of my DNA and me having the DYPD gene. The drug can be neurotoxic to me and/or fatal. No side effects as of yet. All cancer patients need to have their DNA tested to find what meds you shouldn't take, it's common in Europe and other free world countries except the US, we are always trailing thx to insurance. Pharmacogenetics are so important.

a month agoFunny you should say that. I had a blood draw for molecular profiling done last Monday. Maybe that will change my treatment plan or indicate that I have the right treatment plan.
