I have a biopsy scheduled for September 8th. He will remove more of the mass that didn't shrink with radiation and chemo. I'm a bit nervous.

It's completely natural to feel nervous before a biopsy, especially when it involves removing tissue that hasn't responded as expected to previous treatments. Many people in this community have shared similar feelings about their procedures, and your healthcare team will guide you through what to expect on the day of your biopsy. Consider writing down any questions you have beforehand so you can discuss them with your medical team - they're there to help ease your concerns and ensure you feel as prepared as possible.

We're here for you ❤️ What type and stage of cancer do you have? How much radiation and chemo did you go through? It helps to talk to others who are going or have gone through the same thing. Hope your biopsy goes well.

I have 35 radiation treatments Two chemo long term treatments. I have anorectal squamous cell carcinoma stage 3. He said I would need more treatment and a permanent colostomy if the cancer is still there.

They won't even discuss surgically removing mine, all say I need chemo/radiation first to shrink the mass. It's mostly external on the rectum and the pain is often unbearable. What pain meds are others on if in them? I am on oxycodone and fentanyl patch however I am also an intractable pain patient from CRPS, complex regional pain syndrome which is bad by itself but now it's become unbearable.

I was on oxycodone during treatment. I had surgery first with a biopsy and he removed the majority of the mass. I had another pet scan and MRI done also. The good news is the lymph nodes are shrinking the bad news is there is a residual viable tumor in the middle of my scar tissue. I don't know what the next step will be but should have answers come Tuesday.

The oncologist and radiation oncologist both say surgery is not an option for me right niw, they say they would not get clean margins causing more harm than good

I found out yesterday that I have active cancer cells in the anal wall. I also have a residual tumor that's viable. Just waiting to see what the next steps will be
