12 days agoColon resection surgery experiences can vary quite a bit from person to person, and it's completely natural to want to hear from others who have been through this procedure. This community is a great place to connect with fellow patients who can share their real experiences and offer the kind of support that only comes from those who truly understand the journey.

10 days agoI had 10 inches of my colon removed. My advice is to walk every single day no matter how much it hurts. This helped me with my recovery. Also, for years prior to my surgery, I was gluten intolerant and didn't know why. Since the surgery, I have been able to eat gluten without any issues. I've heard the cancer may have caused the intolerance , and your whole gut biome changes after surgery. Wish you the best with your surgery and recovery.

9 days agoHad a bowel resection for melanoma last August of the small intestine. Didn't have to have a bag so I was lucky. It takes a good 8 to 10 weeks to heal to start feeling normal. One week in hospital and painful but not too bad. Normal bowel movements about 6 weeks later.

9 days agoI had large tumor removed from my traverse colon. Since I had alot of tumors in peritoneal cavity my surgery was pretty extensive but as far as the colon I was told I would have an ostomy bag prior to surgery. However, once they got in there they decided i didn't need one since everything was so healthy otherwise and the tumor was not invading any other organs. I'm 8 months out and doing well. I still have to stay on stool softeners daily and some motility issues but I use senna when things won't move. Hydrate hydrate hydrate! And try to stay active .. walking daily while healing. I'm definitely thankful for my awesome surgeons! Good luck to you!
