What are typical copays for IV and oral chemo treatments?

Started my IV Chemo and oral chemo this week. The IV is q three weeks and the oral is three caplets a day. Was pleasantly surprised to find my copay only $7.00 for the IV and $3.44 for the oral because the IV cost is like $10,000 the oncologist told me. Was afraid my copay would be so high I couldn't afford it. So far no side effects from the IV Oxaliplatin which can be neuro toxic based on my DNA.

Copay costs can vary significantly between insurance plans and medications, but it sounds like your coverage is working well for you. Many patients worry about the financial burden of cancer treatments, so having manageable copays can provide real peace of mind during an already challenging time. It's also encouraging that you haven't experienced the neuropathy side effects yet - everyone responds differently to treatments. Consider sharing your experience with copays and insurance navigation, as other community members often find this information helpful when planning for their own treatment costs.

Nice to get a good surprise once in awhile ❤️ Watch out for numbness and tingling in hands and feet due to neuropathy from the oxaliplatin. After 14 treatments I have severe neuropathy in my feet which is quite painful. Hopefully you won't suffer bad side effects. Good luck to you.

@grace Garland. My problem is I already have body wide neuropathy from the CRPS I have suffered from for 34 years now, it is a double whammy for me. The first IV infusion they had to stop before it was finished as my left foot/leg went completely numb along with severe abdominal cramping. Can't win for losing. At what point did you determine the IV Chemo was making your tumor shrink? My mass has grown because my oncologist drug his feet before starting the chemo. After taking the oral, the neuropathy increases but then backs off after a few hours. I am learning as I go during this new journey I am on.
