a year agoI am diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer. I’ve finished chemo and had surgery. Now onto radiation, herceptin and phesgo. Do these drugs cause hair loss?
Accepted Answer
Hair loss concerns are completely understandable after going through chemotherapy. The good news is that Herceptin and Phlebo typically don't cause the same type of hair loss that chemotherapy does, though some people may experience mild hair thinning. Since everyone responds differently to treatment, it's worth discussing this concern with your oncology team who can provide guidance specific to your treatment plan and help you know what to expect during this next phase.

6 months agoI have had all those drugs and I also have triple positive breast cancer. Not one of the drugs causes hair loss. Radiation to the breast does not cause hair loss either.

6 months agoTaxotern Of TCHP causes hair loss almost 21 from first dose. Been there done that six rounds of TCHP I might’ve spelled the first drug wrong, but it is still T I called it pterodactyl had mastectomy April with 19 noodle dissection one positive node. Dragged my feet and now on Radiation and total of 17 rounds of perception, including pre-surgery chemo doses, and post surgical doses. What you take is dependent upon your reaction to previous doses and how you tolerate them.

6 months agoListen Haydee J. The mastectomy ( I did the affected breast only with no reconstruction) is a very personal and professional decision to be made with your team. If taking chemo first to shrink the tumor prior to surgery then the remaining size of tumor or tumors determines what needs to be taking. Remember, you can always get a second opinion I’m sure you can make the best decision for your particular situation. 80% of all women choose no reconstruction which prolongs your healing time. Of course you can do reconstruction later if you can afford it.
