2 months agoOn Thursday, I will be getting my 6th weekly taxol and herceptin treatment. I have started getting neuropathy in my feet and hands which wakes me up several times during the night. I feel as if I haven't slept much at all. I have also had a headache for the past 4 days. Does anyone have some advice to help me sleep better or ways to get rid of this headache? Thank you

2 months agoMany patients undergoing taxol treatment experience similar challenges with neuropathy and sleep disruption. It's worth discussing these symptoms with your care team before your next treatment, as they may have specific recommendations for managing neuropathy pain and persistent headaches that can help improve your sleep quality and overall comfort during treatment.

2 months agoYou can ask your doctor for Gabapentin. It helps relieve the neuropathy pain and can help you sleep as well. While doing taxol I wore ice packs on my hands and feet during the treatment. It did seem to slow the progression of it a bit, but it didn't take it away, it just didn't get much worse. Hope this helps, stay strong, prayers

2 months agoI wore the ice gloves and socks during my Taxol infusions. Neuropathy exploded after the 11 th treatment. I refuse to take gabapentin because of its own side effects and it only masks the pain, does nothing to repair. I try to increase circulation and use Tylenol almost every day. Am looking into red light therapy.

2 months agoI also had neuropathy in hands and feet with Taxol. I had Reynaud’s in my fingers before I started, and chemo made it worse. Gabapentin did help. I used ice packs on hands and feet during chemo— unsure whether it actually helped, but an attempt is better than no attempt! Good luck!

a month agoWatch that neuropathy and if wearing ice packs during next chemo treatment doesn't do anything, consider discussing dialing back your chemo dosage. Chemo dosages should not be one size fits all. A good doc will acknowledge this and work w you. By the time my sister spoke up it was too late - she now has permanent neuropathy in her hands and feet.
