Have You Experienced Illness After Chemotherapy?

I’ve completed my chemotherapy in November. I was lucky to have minimal side affects. I’m 6 months out and still doing immunotherapy. I have since had all kinds of illness including sepsis. Has anyone else experienced post chemo illness?

Post-chemotherapy immune system changes can make some people more susceptible to infections and other health challenges, so your experience isn't uncommon in the cancer community. Many others in similar situations have shared about navigating unexpected health issues during their recovery and ongoing treatment periods, and connecting with fellow patients who understand this journey can provide valuable support and insights.

I had Afib, shingles and UTIs. Had to have my gallbladder removed. Had a car accident due to fatigue from radiation and cracked 2 vertebrae. BUT chemo killed my tumors...all they found was a tiny scar on a lymph node that indicated it HAD been cancerous. So now I'm about to start 14 Kadcyla treatments to be sure

An accident is exactly what I’m concerned about if I do radiation. The fatigue is supposedly really bad. I’m seriously considering not doing radiation. The side effects are worse than the chemo. My tumor was small and no cancer in my lymph node. Can’t see the benefit versus the risk. I’m on week 3 of chemo and tolerating it ok. Having some heart palpitations, Dr wants a heart monitor next week.

Dayna, other than fatigue, I had few side effects with radiation. I used the recommended cream on the irradiated area and had very little redness and soreness. But that fatigue will kick your butt.

the radiation was the easiest part for me. I was stage 3 and took 30 treatments. I worked full time and drove myself to and from radiation and went to work after. I did go straight to bed after getting home from work though.

Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with HER 2+ I am on phesgo every 21 days now.. I had 20 rounds of radiation, with the previous 6 months chemo every 3 weeks. The Dr also wants me on Lupron starting in July every 28-day injection. Is there anyone else here with this particular regimen. Mine was stage II estrogen driven aggressive. I was curious if I had my ovaries removed. Would this help with estrogen growth?? I was diagnosed in Aug 2024. .and it's still a journey with emotions and fatigue. God Bless everyone fighting this!! 🙏
