Neuroendocrine features in breast cancer refer to cells that have characteristics of both typical breast cancer cells and nerve/hormone-producing cells, which can sometimes affect how the cancer behaves and responds to treatment. This is something the oncologist will be able to explain in detail during the upcoming appointment, including how it might influence the treatment plan and what specific monitoring or therapies might be recommended. Having questions ready for that first oncology visit can help make the most of the time together, and many find it helpful to bring a support person or take notes during these important discussions.

6 months agoHi Kaydee, I am so sorry to hear you have to go through this again. I was diagnosed, Oct. 2023, with neuroendocrine breast cancer and was told it is very rare as neuroendocrine cancer usually starts somewhere else. I have never been able to find anyone with this type. My surgeon has only seen one other case, and my oncologist has only treated a few in her previous practice. Thankfully, it was caught early, 12.6mm mass. I had surgery, an oncotype score of 16, so no chemo, just 20 radiation treatments, and now anestrozole for 5 years. I did have 2 PET scans to see if I had cancer elsewhere, but nothing showed up. PTL! There wasn't much info on the web in 2023, but I have been seeing a lot more recently. You are not alone! Reach out if you have any questions.

6 months agoThank you so much for answering as I have little info on it and have not seen the oncologist yet so I don’t know what my onco type is. I am hoping not to have chemo so I hope my score is low.

6 months agoI was thankful not to have chemo, although my oncologist did want me to consider it. I hope you have a productive meeting with your oncologist.
