a month agoI was recently diagnosed with DCIS (stage 0 breast cancer) that is hormone-positive. My doctor explained that I have several surgical options to consider, including breast-conserving surgery with or without radiation, or mastectomy. Since my cancer is hormone-positive, there may also be endocrine therapy options to help reduce the risk of recurrence. I'm trying to learn more about what to expect as I work with my medical team to decide on the best treatment plan for my situation. I'd love to connect with others who have been through something similar. • If you had DCIS treatment, what factors helped you decide between surgical options? • What do you wish you had known when making treatment decisions for hormone-positive DCIS?

a month agoI wish I had a mastectomy and made sure I took a hormone blocker. I had exact same diagnosis 18 years ago and mine returned in the same breast with lymph nodes involved.

Many people in this community have navigated similar decisions about surgical approaches and hormone therapy, and their experiences can provide valuable insights as you work with your medical team to find the right path forward for your specific situation.

a month agoI had DCIS hormone positive. Onco type only 3. I did lumpectomy. She took extra around spot (breast uneven). Since I was 70 no lymph nodes were taken. I did radiation and asked that it included lymph nodes. I am on letrozole. I will have my two year mammogram since diagnosis. Finger crossed
