3 months agoDiagnosed with ILC/Stage 1 Breast Cancer in 2020. Lumpectomy/16 rounds of radiation/18 months Anastrozole/30 months Letrozole - anybody experience weight gain during treatment or hair loss when stopping the Letrozole? What do you do for treatment for hair loss or weight gain?
Accepted Answer
Many community members share concerns about side effects during and after hormone therapy treatment. Weight changes and hair effects can be common experiences with these medications, and stopping treatment may bring its own adjustments as the body adapts. Consider discussing these concerns with your oncology team, as they can provide personalized guidance and may suggest resources for managing these effects - other members here may also have helpful experiences to share about what worked for them.

3 months agoHi Marsha. I also had ILC/Stage 1 breast cancer. My surgery was this past Jan. I only had 5 radiation treatments and I'm currently on Anastrozole. That's all. I have a few hot flashes here and there but nothing major. No weight gain or hair loss. I've actually been taking Nutrafol for about 12 years so that's probably helped. But none of my doctors or nurses mentioned weight gain or hair loss for my situation so I guess that just shows how everyone's body reacts differently. I'm sorry you're experiencing these symptoms. Keep talking to your doctor and nurses, they've been here-done that, so hopefully they're caring and resourceful for you. And prayer, if you're a Christian.... it's been a true life-saver and sanity check for me thru all this!

2 months agoHi Marsha, I had lumpectomy in 2021, 20 sessions of radiation and I am in the 5th year on Letrozole. Indeed, all these have some effects as time goes on; you’ll notice the hair loss, and some gain weight; you’ll have to stay on top all the time, taking care of your health, using good products and being patient; my hair is nor anymore as it used to be, is like it doesn’t listen to any cut shape I choose; I can see new hair growing now and I hope it will get better; I am exercising regularly and walk every day; joints and bone pain is another issue you have to take care of; you can do it just stay positive, and listen to your body
