Skin changes during radiation treatment are actually quite common, and many patients in this community have shared similar experiences. The radiation can affect skin cells in various ways, including changes that might look like breakouts. It's definitely worth mentioning this to your radiation team, as they often have helpful suggestions for managing skin reactions during treatment and can determine if any adjustments to your skincare routine might help.

6 months agoMy oncologist says it's just like a bad sunburn. Moisturizer is a must use, just not within 4 hours of your treatment. He recommended CereVe. You can get it at Walmart. If it gets really itchy cortisone helps.

6 months agoI had 15 rounds of radiation and developed a rash on my chest as well. I had every cream they recommended, but the nurse told me to use Vitamin E oil on the rash. It was gone in a few weeks.

6 months agoIt's been almost 5 months since my last radiation treatment. I finally see almost normal looking skin. Still putting lotion on. I've ordered a healing oil from Pomifera recommended by friend who finished her treatments in early July. Ordered lavender rosemary.

6 months agoYes. I had the same thing happen to me. I had 15 rounds of radiation and two weeks later started breaking out in an itchy rash on my chest. I used Vitamin E oil and that really helped me. The doctor suggested this. It will go away. Mine is all gone.

6 months agoWhere I get radiation at they said the IU Medical Center had done a study using green tea topically to the breast. You apply it four times daily in the morning right before your treatment right after your treatment and in the evening after you shower. You make it by using one cup of hot water and three pouches of green tea to make it super condensed and then I just use a gauze pad to apply at topically . A few days ago, I developed what they call radiation dermatitis which is the itchy, rash and little bumps on my breast so today I made my green tea solution and soaked some gauze pads in the green tea, and then laid it on my chest and let it soak there for like 30 minutes. It definitely took the itch out of it and felt much better than applying the hydrocortisone cream that I had been using.
