2 years agoI had an ILC diagnosis. Mastectomy, Radiation and Chemo. Then a fat transfer reconstruction. Fat transfer did not go well. Lots of fat cysts and it looks real bad. I am going to look for a second opinion, but has any one gone through this? What are the options you were offered?

Fat transfer reconstruction complications like cysts can be really challenging to deal with, especially after everything you've already been through with your treatment. Getting a second opinion sounds like a smart step, and many people in this community have navigated similar reconstruction concerns and may be able to share their experiences with different options their doctors discussed. Hopefully others here can offer some insight into what alternatives they were presented with when facing similar situations.

8 months agoThanks for posting this. I am also diagnosed with ILC. Double mastectomy July 11. Scheduled for radiation hoping no chemo but waiting for mammaprint. I have the (very uncomfortable) expanders and the Dr is saying tissue and fat reconstruction down the road. Did you have the abdominal flap transfer? Or latissimus dorsi muscle? I’m interested to hear what results people have had

8 months agoNo expanders. They just made little mounds and then they were supposed to do 2 or 3 fat transfers. The 1 they did did not go well, turned into cysts. Dr did not tell me next plan, she said see you in a year and left the room. I spoke to her nurse who onlu said no surgery was discussed. That wss almost a year ago. I never got a call back ad to what she plans on doing.
