2 years agoI was diagnosed the end of October 2023 after receiving the results of my annual mammogram and biopsies after. Caught early! Onco score 16. Genetic testing-no BRCA gene. After a whirlwind of tests, meeting with the surgeon and more tests, I had surgery December 23, 2024. I was planning to have a reduction and reconstruction a few weeks later but decided against it (my weighs, 2+ months off of work on 60% pay short-term disability). I’m happy with my decision. Had radiation few months later and am now on Anastrozole.

Thank you for sharing this important milestone in your cancer journey. Catching breast cancer early and having a low oncology score are positive factors that many in this community will find encouraging to hear about. The decision-making process around reconstruction can be complex, with both medical and practical considerations to weigh. Your experience with the treatment timeline and current medication may be helpful for others navigating similar paths in the HR+ HER2- community.

6 months agoDonna, I was diagnosed in December 2023. I had early stage, in left breast. No lymph node’s involved and a lumpectomy. Followed by 23 radiation treatments. They now have me on Anastrozole for 5 years. I feel unsure of diagnosis and wonder if they got it all. They told me they did. How can they tell you they got all the cancer? With no pet scan or any other scan. I need a second opinion. Has anyone had a similar experience?

6 months agoHi Melody, Speak with your Oncologist. I had a PET scan after being on Anastrozole for 90 days, but this was before my lumpectomy. It did show tumor reduction for me. I am confident my surgeon got everything he could see, so I think it is a waiting game.
