a year agoDoes anyone else know if letrazole 2.5mg daily combined with verzenio 100mg twice daily cause moderate hair and nail damage and other issues with healing. I was diagnosed on 10-20- 2023. Had DMX on 11-21-2023 with reconstruction. Had necrosis of skin from radical surgery and had surgery again on 12-8-2023. Have had issues with tissue expanders and have had 2 sets on left side and 2 on right side. Oncotype #13. Have had 5 more surgeries only to say that as of today I have had the expanders removed and am trying to wait for 4-6 months before trying to see what options are for me later. I just can’t get my energy level back and feel I have lack of mental clarity. But mainly a lot of nail and hair damage. Very dry and brittle. Nails break if not kept cut very short. The hair and nail stuff really just started about one month ago. Anyone else have these issues and what have you done about them. Healing has been ongoing

Hair and nail changes are commonly reported side effects with both letrazole and Verzenio, often becoming more noticeable after several months of treatment. Many community members find that keeping nails short, using strengthening treatments, and gentle hair care products can help manage these effects. The fatigue and mental fog are also frequently discussed experiences with these medications. Consider discussing these symptoms with your oncology team, as they may have specific recommendations or adjustments that could help while maintaining your treatment effectiveness.

6 months agoI started Verzenio and Letrozole 11/2022, after chemo, dmx, and radiation. By October 2023 I had problems with my nails being easy to break and pulling away from my nail bed. I have completed my 2 years of Verzenio and my nails seem to be getting better.

6 months agoI am on letrazole and Verzenio. Very brittle nails and the hair loss started in May (started Verzenio in January). I won't go anywhere without a hat now, but if I keep my nails painted, it helps.

6 months agoThanks for the reply. I started verzenio in April 2024. And just now seeing the damage. Hopefully after 2 years of this verzenio is over it will help. Keeping the nails really short and trying to not have to wash hair daily. Prayers it will go away.

6 months agoI believe all AIs cause thinning hair , brittle ridged nails, and very dry skin. I've been on most of them.

6 months agoYes, I agree. These medicines do cause the side effects we’re talking about. Me too. Sigh. I’m on Ibrance and letrozole.
