2 years agoAnyone gone/going through radiation find that one product worked/works better than another for radiation burn? I’m becoming raw. I feel like I’ve tried everything. With it being the weekend I won’t be back to treatment until Monday.

Radiation skin reactions can be incredibly uncomfortable, and finding the right relief products often requires some trial and error since everyone's skin responds differently. Many community members have shared helpful experiences with various gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers and cooling gels specifically designed for radiation therapy - it might be worth checking with your radiation team on Monday about which products they recommend most often, as they see what works best for their patients daily.

6 months agoMy Lymphedema Therapist has me using fractionated coconut oil for massaging. I developed scar tissue from radiation and have benefited from massage and cupping therapy and have avoided Lymphedema thus far and the burns have been minimal. Amazon has a 16oz. pump bottle for a good price and a little goes a long way. And I am now using it on my face.

6 months agoMy radiation oncologist prescribed a large tub of Silvadene cream. Worked very well on my peeling burns. Kept my skin from breaking down further. It’s an old, well studied medication. My husband, a retired RN used it on many of his ICU patients and said it was the best cream to use on my radiation burns. Good luck. I hope you heal quickly.

6 months agoSo I just came across some information on hypochlorous acid. It comes in a spray and gel form ( maybe cream, I'm not sure). This product I've been using for many years to clean my house ( it kills bacteria and viruses) but I just learned that it is great for skin irritation also. I came across on Amazon ( but sure you can get it other places). Also maybe check with your doctor?
