a month agoHas anyone been diagnosed with or heard of heterogeneous breast cancer? I was diagnosed in August of 25 with metastatic breast cancer that has spread to my long bones, spine, sternum, ribs. Labs look good, scans are stable but Ca-27-29are all over the place and higher than they were when first diagnosed. Prior to this I had been cancer free for 17 years! My oncologist wants me to have 2nd bone biopsy on the right side(first was on the left) and it was Er+ he wants to check to see if the right side is Er-. If so then I will start Enertu infusions. Ali’s my HER2 was what is now considered as low. I am confused and scared and all the things that go along with this. And I’m new here. First time actually posting a question. Any insight or help appreciate

25 days agoWelcome to the community, and thank you for sharing your experience with such courage. Heterogeneous breast cancer refers to cancer that shows different characteristics in different areas, which is why your oncologist wants to check if the cancer on the right side has different hormone receptor status than the left side. This type of testing helps doctors choose the most effective treatment approach for each specific area. Many community members have navigated similar situations with multiple biopsies and changing treatment plans, so you're definitely not alone in feeling confused and scared about these next steps. Consider reaching out to others in this community who may have experience with similar diagnoses or treatments - their insights could be really valuable as you move forward.

14 days agoActually I had gotten confused. The reason for the second biopsy was apparently the first one didn’t get enough however it did show ER positive HER2 ++ or what they call HER2 low. I had that on 21 April and I’ve yet to receive any results from that. I’m assuming that he is looking to see if any of those statuses had changed to add Enertu I believe is what it’s called to my treatment. I did sign that the ctdna test that he ordered wasn’t completed because they didn’t have enough of a sample and my insurance company decided that it was too” experimental”
