I am hr+ her2 - I have a tremendous family history of breast cancer with one maternal Aunt having triple negative and another with mutation of BRCA gene no cancer. My genetic testing came back negative. I have stage 1A. I am highly considering bilateral mastectomy. I do not want radiation whatsoever. I am also a recovering addict, 10 years clean (back disc ruptured ( oxycontin days. I am so afraid of the pain that will be caused from this surgery. I do have a safe plan, recovery at my mom's who will control my medication. Does anyone have any.inout or suggestions?

Managing pain after surgery while maintaining sobriety is a valid concern that many people in recovery face when dealing with cancer treatment. Having a trusted support person handle medication and working closely with your medical team to create a comprehensive pain management plan that considers your recovery history can help address these worries. Many others in this community have navigated similar challenges and may share their experiences and strategies that worked for them.

Jolene, I had a double mastectomy back in March of 2024. I didn’t want to take prescription pain meds so I took Motrin and Tylenol together round the clock for the first week post surgery. I had no pain. I also didn’t have to deal with the problems that pain meds cause. Talk to your dr. It worked 100 % for me.
