Is there a place to go for to talk about going for your first post surgical mammogram. Mine is coming up in May and the closer it gets the more nervous I am becoming. I want to know what others are feeling?

Many people experience nervousness before their first post-surgery mammogram, and these feelings are completely understandable given what you've been through. This community is a wonderful place to connect with others who have had similar experiences and can share their perspectives on navigating this milestone in your cancer journey.

I just had my post surgery mammo 3 weeks ago. It’s pretty normal HOWEVER bc they need to recreate a new baseline for you post surgery you will sit there for awhile and be called back for more images. While it’s anxiety inducing it’s a good thing they really want to look carefully. I was probably there about 1.5 hrs and was called back 3 times (the third one in tears) but all was normal. Onto MRI in 6 months.

HI Suzanne, I just had my one year post op diagnostic mammogram. I’ll admit it was pretty uncomfortable on the side I had the lumpectomy and re-excision surgery. They ended up having to do 7 pictures of that side and I was sure that the radiologist was going to come out with bad news. But nope it all looked good he said and will repeat next year. I saw the surgeon a few days later and he did a breast exam and confirmed that all was good and discomfort was because of scar tissue. So I continue taking the Tamoxifen every morning and feel pretty blessed.

Hi Suzanne , I was so scared to go for my first mammogram after treatment because of my horrible pain I have had after. I had just got it more settled down and was afraid to compression might cause it to get worse again. The imaging facility I use is amazing and I totally trust them. So I told the tech how scared I was and she was amazing. I never felt any pain. I am amazed and so appreciate of the great care I have received by Radiology staff, from imaging, biopsies,MRIs and radiation. Great professionals . I wasn't nervous about any more cancer being found .

I just had my first mammogram since treatment last year, and the initial images found an enlarged lymph node. I have to go back for more images and sonogram to look at the lymph nodes. This is not what I was expecting.
