Accepted Answer
Managing severe bone pain from Neulasta can be incredibly challenging, and it's understandable to seek additional relief options when current medications aren't providing enough comfort. Many patients in this community have faced similar experiences and may have valuable insights to share about what has helped them through this difficult side effect. Consider discussing alternative pain management strategies with your healthcare team, as they may be able to suggest additional approaches or adjust your current regimen to better support you during treatment.

6 months agoInject 6pm / 8pm ish so you can sleep most if it off. Loads still mineral water. I mean loads. 3 litres daily if u can. It helps. Check they’re giving you as low dose as possible. It goes on your weight. There’s a threshold where the increased amount can be difficult to cope with if you’re only just on that borderline of weight. I found it was easier when I dropped down to the 300mg than 420mg shots. Alternative site injection. Try putting it in your tummy rather than thigh because you might have more fat around the abdominal area. Just depends on your own personal body, but I found it was easier & less bone pain either side of my naval.

6 months agoI just endured. It’s very different from muscle pain so it’s intensity takes you by surprise. It didn’t last more than a few days for me. Losing my appetite and battling my old nemesis under a new name- chemo anorexia- for me was worse. And a lot of dizziness. God bless. 💕🙏😘

6 months agoHi Umm A - like Donna E says for some reason the extra fat in the tummy area seemed also for me to dissipate the effects better you know the extra subcutaneous fat. About the dose - what are you on currently?…as there are only two ‘strengths’ …..And this is against doctors advice so completely ignore by all means! but they were so bad for me I didn’t use all of them depending on how I felt, how many I could ‘manage’ & how my neuts were doing….I researched & found other ways to get my neuts up, google! Mainly broccoli, vit B complex, B12 & folate, high cocoa content dark chocolate 5 squares daily, exercise and water. I got neuts up from 0.3 to 1 in 24 hrs - enough for treatment to go ahead. You’re taking them out of the fridge in plenty of time to warm up are you? Going in too cold can make you feel very unwell.

6 months agoI had one dose and it was horrible. After that one my neutrophil counts were below normal but high enough that the oncologist agreed I could skip it in the future. She said worse case is chemo would be delayed a week but agreed the side effects were worse than a delay. Fortunately it worked out and I didn’t need Neulasta the remaining 2 times and did not have to delay chemo. So ask if skipping it is an option.

6 months agoI was prescribed tramadol which did help but I took quite a bit of it apparently. If it's really bad, you can also ask for hydromorphone
