a year agoI have triple negative breast cancer. Had chemo with Keytruda immunotherapy and then a lumpectomy with lymph nodes removed. Chemo killed cancer in the tumor, the margins were clear and the lymph nodes show no sign of cancer. I am now at the point of radiation. The radiation oncologist said I could go with a four week radiation directed specifically where the tumor had been or a six week regiment where the lymph node area would also be included. Anyone else have this choice and what did you decide?

This is such an important decision point in treatment, and it's completely understandable to want to hear from others who've faced similar choices. The decision between focused radiation and broader coverage often depends on individual factors that oncologists consider carefully. Many community members have navigated this same crossroads and found value in discussing the trade-offs between treatment duration and coverage areas with their medical teams. Hopefully others will share their experiences and thought processes to help provide perspective as you work through this decision with your radiation oncologist.
