Hi I am a 51-year-old female with metastatic squamous cell of the anus to the lungs presented in November 2023 initially treated with Mitomycin-C capecitabine and radiation this was followed by biopsy-proven metastatic disease to the lung initially treated with nivolumab complicated by allergic reaction transition to pembrolizumab tolerated but unfortunately with disease progression here to initiate chemotherapy with paclitaxel and carboplatin. Does anyone here have lung cancer? I’m in remission with my anal cancer just trying to beat this lung cancer now.

While this community focuses on breast cancer, many members understand the challenges of dealing with metastatic disease and navigating different treatment options. The journey with cancer can feel isolating, but connecting with others who've faced similar treatment decisions and side effects can provide valuable support and encouragement during this difficult time.

I did have lung cancer. Squamous Cell is ruff cancer. I'm in remission for head neck throat cancer. I've had spots in my lungs. Did radiation and was gone again. Only to return. I'm currently doing chemo for breast cancer. I'm hoping this treatment will aid me in my lung cancer as well.

To Kim B and Cheryl C, What stage is your lung cancer? I have Stage 1 lung cancer that I still have a 1 in 5 chance of dying some time within the next 5 years. I chose SBRT radiation which is an intense radiation that mostly just goes to the tumor. It’s just as effective as lung surgery without all the risks of lung surgery. I had to fight the main doctor to get it. I had the most exhaustion from it that I’ve ever had for about 2 months, but it was well worth it. But I have anxiety about it spreading to my brain which is most likely in the first 2 years. Then because it is still lung cancer in the brain, people usually only live 6 months. Many think that breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths, but lung cancer kills more people than breast cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancers combined. It’s not uncommon for it to spread to distant locations in the body. So it will always be with me. However even though your cancer is in the lungs, I am wondering if it may not be lung cancer itself. It may be considered your other cancer which would be best.
