These medication decisions can feel overwhelming, especially when weighing potential side effects against treatment benefits. Many community members have shared similar concerns about hormone therapy duration and risks, and it's completely natural to want to gather different perspectives before making such an important choice. Consider discussing your specific risk factors and family history with your oncology team, and don't hesitate to ask for a second opinion if it would help you feel more confident in your treatment plan.

6 months agoI’m on tamoxifen. Yes, all the possible symptoms and chances of getting uterine cancer or a blood clot are daunting. It is very rare for that to happen though. They can switch up medications after a while and use Lupron to shut your ovaries down because you are so young. Have you had any genetic testing. If you have a history of CA in the family I would get tested for a genetic variants. It’s important to know what you are dealing with, if anything. Knowledge is power.

6 months agoYes, ask (demand) for genetic testing. Make sure insurance covers it… which it should if they code it correctly. All hormone suppressants have scary side effects but unfortunately you have to try them to find out what works best for you. My new oncologist stated that she would never put a post menopausal woman on tamoxifen and yet my endocrinologist recommended it because Letrazole causes issues with bone density. 🤪
