How long should you wait for breast implant surgery after mastectomy?

I've completed my expander fills and am ready to schedule the implant exchange surgery. I've read that it should be a minimum of three months from my bilateral mastectomy. Is that what others have been told?

The timing for implant exchange surgery can vary based on individual healing and your surgical team's approach. Many patients find it helpful to discuss the specific timeline with their plastic surgeon, as factors like tissue healing, infection risk, and personal recovery can all influence the recommended waiting period. Others in this community may have valuable experiences to share about their own journeys with expander-to-implant exchange surgery.

To date, I’ve had 2 implant surgeries scheduled: 1 was successful and 1 was unsuccessful. My surgeon scheduled each eleven months from the time of the tissue expander surgery. I thought this was the norm. Oh, well; I’ve learned something new. I was told that was the normal healing time following a mastectomy. God bless you in the future’
