What to expect during DIEP flap surgery recovery at 63?

I am 63 years old and scheduled for diep flap surgery on the 26th of this month. I am extremely nervous about it. Can those of you who have undergone this surgery give some insight to how your recovery went ? I had a rough time after my mastectomy due to late effects of radiation. I know that is behind me now but still figures in to my apprehension for the upcoming surgery. Thanks in advance for your answers.
