a month agoHi, I have three more chemotherapy treatments to go for her to positive breast cancer. My question is, how long after chemotherapy ends can I color my hair to cover gray? Thanks, Mary

a month agoIt's completely understandable to want to return to normal routines like hair coloring after treatment. Most healthcare providers typically recommend waiting several weeks to a few months after chemotherapy ends before using hair dyes, as the scalp and newly growing hair can be quite sensitive during recovery. This would be a great question to discuss with your oncology team, as they know your specific treatment plan and can provide personalized guidance on the best timing for your situation.

a month agoHi Mary my name is Mary also. I’ve been going through this horrible journey for 13 yrs. And I continued to color my hair. Even though chemo and radiation. I’m back on immunotherapy with chemo and I’m still coloring my hair. I never had that problem with sense ability. I lost my hair the first time and I’m on losing it again. No one ever told me I couldn’t color my hair and I feel so much better after it. Anyway I wish u luck and be safe! Mary

a month agoThank you!!! I’m sorry that you have so much experience with this! How long after stopping chemotherapy do the symptoms go away? Symptoms like diarrhea, nausea, skin rashes, and breakouts, losing hair, very dry skin? Any info would be appreciated. Take good care.

a month agoHi I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to answer but it takes awhile. When I had my first round of chemo 13 yrs ago I ended up in the hospital twice cause I had horrible stomach pain . They gave me 4 strong infusions. Of course I lost all my hair and as weird as it sounds it came back black gray and curly. Do remember I couldn’t wait to get color. I’m a blond and have been forever. In fact going through it now again I just did color a couple of weeks ago on the little bit of hair I have. I’m losing it again. I look at this way that should be the worse thing that happens right? The rest of one mentioned is that time will help u feel once u stop the treatment. Don’t forget ure putting this crap in ur body so u have to give it a chance to heal itself. U’ll be ok gradually everyday u’ll start feeling better and stronger. I’m going through immunotherapy with chemo and my husband and I are moving to Naples Fl. I live in Hollywood Fl. right now. It isn’t going to be easy but we’re so anxious that we can’t wait.’so hopefully in a couple of weeks we will be moved. Where do u live? Anytime u want talk or vent Im here. Good luck to u and a Happy&Healthy safe New Year Mary

a month agoMy hair was a beautiful gray, thick, and grew fast pre-chemo. Now it's thin, see my scalp thin in places, frizzy and dry, and an unattractive gray. Is there anything to encourage it to grow back? I've tried topical Minoxidil and some supplements without success. I have been on immunotherapy for a pretty long time, and I think I should just give up.

a month agoPhyllis, don’t give up - look up. God has a reason for you to be here at this time in history. It’s hard to live this altered state, but I believe I have a special reason that only God knows and so do you. Look for God winks and live one day at the time. I will pray for you. Please keep in touch.

6 days agoHairstylist here!! I would wait until you're finished with chemo first. Then you have options! There are temporary rinses you can use that won't damage your hair at all. Color depositing shampoo's, Semi and demi permanent that also won't damage your hair as much. I would stay away from permanent color for awhile. I would need more information to give you more specific advice. What is your current color and what color are you trying to achieve?
